Black Eyes

I gazed into your eye’s, stealing a glance at your soul. You caught me offguard. The darkness of my mood was captured and placed within them.

Black Eyes.

My sleep is haunted - broken. Chest pounding, cold sweat divides my sight. They speak the words, which you were unable. You were not ready for death.

Black Eyes.

Screams of pain. The brute contortions your bones could not come to bear, penetrate your flesh; degrading the mind with such force that I pray this is nothing more than another bad dream.

Black Eyes.

A young widow lingers by. Your flag draped coffin stands firm with conviction. Make-up runs from her face, following a path not so high.

Black Eyes.

I see you staring at me, your mind raceing with delight. Face hidden just out of site, beneath the shelter of your kufi. Mind set on the explosion to follow.

Black Eyes.

All alone now. In the eyes of those whom mourn, I can see my reflection. Just as I feared.

Black Eyes.
